AFTER BEING RESCUED FROM BANGALORE BENGALS, GREGORY RECENTLY EUTHANIZED ANOTHER STUD CAT FROM HIS CATTERY FOR ILLNESSES!

Bamboo went through several breeders. One of his breeders wanted to ensure that when he was sold to a breeder for what was supposed to be his last round of breeding that he was placed as a pet afterwards. The previous breeder (prior to Greg) has had his best interests at heart since he left her care to be with Greg. Please note that the previous breeder who had him before Greg did not sell Bamboo to Greg. She was ordered to deliver Bamboo to him by the person whom had offered him to her program for stud work.

That's right! The original buyer of this cat from Ohio sold him to a horrible backyard breeder whom neglected to care for him for several years. Bamboo sadly was sent to yet another breeder for his "breeding program".

Greg agreed to place Bamboo in a pet home per contract before obtaining him. Due to the fact that Bamboo's contract was on the verge of being breached (he attempted to sell this cat for ANOTHER round of breeding after promising to place him in a pet home) and that he may potentially be sold again as a breeder a plan was set in place to rescue him. Bamboo's previous breeder to Greg was extremely concerned about Bamboo's well being and did everything possible to find the right person to house him.

Greg's story was that he couldn't be placed in a home as a pet because no one would step up for him. We asked Greg why this cat wasn't able to be placed into a pet home... The above video was sent of Bamboo... after viewing this obviously we were concerned and agreed to adopt him and work to rehabilitate him so that he would not continue to be thrusted into breeding programs and fearful of humans.

Animals have feelings and this cat clearly had been failed by people somewhere along the line. Bamboo was flown via United Airlines and brought to a friend who works with feral cat rescue first for an assessment and an immediate vet exam. When he arrived to her in St. Louis, she couldn't even fathom what he had been through. He had ear mites so bad that he is partially deaf as a result. He had scars all over his body, some of which will never heal. His neck area has a lot of scarred tissue as does the area around his cheeks. Bamboo didn't even know how to use a litter box. He viewed humans in a fearful way. He shook in fear every time he was touched or held. His favorite thing to do was to hide. If you tried to touch him he would put his ears back and cower or run in the opposite direction. He had so many parasites that it took nearly two weeks to clear him up. His stools were not normal until they were cleared of parasites. He had horrible dentals that will continually need to be dealt with and he hasn't been on a proper raw diet in several years which is why his coat is pretty coarse and he has dandruff.

It is doubtful that he has had much human contact in years. The smallest things freak him out so badly. He initially would fly around the room wrecklessly if he was allowed to roam and would literally urinate/defacate everywhere :( it was awful. A three tier tower was ordered for him so that he could have an area that was open to roam in safely and for him to also feel secure in.

TAKES TIME, PATIENCE AND TRUST

IS EVENTUALLY EARNED

AS BAMBOO BECAME MORE TRUSTING, WE NOTICED HE HAD ISSUES WITH BREATHING AND ALSO SAW AN INCREASE IN SLEEP PATTERNS. WE DECIDED TO HAVE HIM TESTED FOR HEART PROBLEMS. HE WAS DIAGNOSED WITH HCM WHICH IS A FORM OF HEART DISEASE IN CATS. SADLY HE WILL EVENTUALLY DIE FROM IT SINCE IT IS FATAL. HE WAS SEEN BY A BOARD CERTIFIED CARDIOLOGIST WHO EXPLAINED THAT HE HAS A MURMUR WITH A BACKFLOW OF BLOOD THROUGH THE MITRAL VALVE OF THE HEART AS WELL AS THICKENING OF THE HEART WALL. WHILE HE DOESN'T NEED MEDICATION AT THIS TIME, HE WILL BE REQUIRED TO BE MONITORED IN ORDER TO FIND OUT EXACTLY WHAT TYPE OF TREATMENTS HE WILL NEED MEDICINE WISE TO SLOW THE DISEASE.
